Vadim Palmov graduated from the Leningrad conservatoire in 1986. Performs recital programs and as a soloist with orchestras in Russia, CIS and abroad – in Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia, Estonia, Romania.
Participated in the many prestigious international festivals.
Pianist’s repertoire includes works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven. He is also devoted to romantic music of Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, as his teacher, prominent musician Nathan Perelman.
One of Palmov’s preferences is music of XX century. He has performed at first time in Russia some compositions of N.Slonimsky, Hovhaness, Siegmeister (USA), Bucholtz (Germany), Desyatnikov, Sapozhnikov, Kornakov, Bibergan, Belov, Krasavin, Nevolovich (St.Petersburg) etc.
Sphere of V.Palmov’s interests includes a lot of rarely performed piano concertos of Schoenberg, Martinu, Stravinsky, Mosolov, Villa-Lobos, Marten, Sonata for piano and strings of Salmanov.
Among various ensemble performances the pianist gives great prominence to piano duets. For many years he has been playing duets with the well-known St.Petersburg composer and pianist Vadim Bibergan and now with his son Igor Palmov.
Vadim Palmov frequently performs in original piano ensembles of six hands, plays compositions for three pianos and for two pianos, eight hands ( together with the piano duet Nora Novik - Raffi Kharadzhanian ).
Duo-pianists Vadim &.Igor Palmov were awarded the third prize at the 2001 International Wolfgang Jacobi competition in Munich.
The pianist proved to be a gifted organizer. Vadim Palmov was Chairman of the Jury at the International Youth Piano Duo Competition in St. Petersburg between 1995 and 1998 and also Organizer and Artistic Director of 13 musical events in Russia.
Vadim Palmov is art director of the "Anton Rubinstein Festival" in Peterhof since 2005.
In 2007 Vadim Palmov became associate professor at the “Universyty of music Karlsruhe”
